This month, Instagram announced new updates for its social media app by removing and adding some features in compliance with today’s demand on the platform.

As the pandemic started, the use for social media arose for daily living and even for boosting businesses.

With the growing demand for social media, a platform such as Instagram has updated its services to adjust to the growing demand for social media.

To keep updated, here are some of the features that the known mobile application has updated.

1. Instagram is now included to Meta Verified

Following the announcement of Meta’s chief executive officer, Mark Zuckerberg, last month, Instagram is now included in the platform, which will be accommodated by Meta Verified.

Creators who are included in this feature will have the following: a verified badge, close monitoring of poser accounts, and a real agent that would address their needs.

In order to activate this feature, users are required to submit their government-issued credentials for it to disclose its verification function.

The initial launch has rolled out on the servers of Australia and New Zealand, whereas the price varies depending on the device that will be used.

2. Broadcast Channels

This feature is designed to open a messaging function for content creators to share texts, photos, voice messages, and also videos directly in their followers’ inboxes.

Followers can now access the broadcast channel of their favorite content creators and participate in reacting to their stories and answering polls. Yet, the content creator is the only one who can send messages on the broadcast channel.

Conclusively, all of the users can search and access the content inside a broadcast channel on Instagram, although only the followers and the creator of the broadcast channel can join and participate.

By having first-hand updates, the followers can also manage their notifications about newly released content from the broadcast channel, and they also have the right to mute or leave the channel.

3. Removal of Reel Bonuses

In relation to its involvement with Meta, the company has decided to discontinue paying monetization bonuses for content creators who make Reels and achieve particular benchmarks.

This action indicates that platforms such as Facebook and Instagram are pulling back on paying content creators by relying on the engagement attained by their Reels.

As Meta stops giving bonuses for creating reels, content creators will need an additional amount of incentive for posting short videos on Meta’s platform.

As a result, Facebook held a promise that there will be additional monetization features in development rather than earning money from Reels.

4. Disabled NFT Features

Instagram announced that digital collectibles or NFTs will no longer be accessible on their platform.

According to Meta’s Commerce head Stephane Kasriel, Instagram will now focus on supporting content creators, users, and businesses while using Instagram, as they will prioritize providing financial opportunities for content creators while using Instagram.

This upcoming update will hugely affect the content creators on the platform as their opportunities for success are decreasing, particularly since the NFT feature was only introduced in May 2022.

Despite all the updates, Instagram is looking forward to giving people opportunities and entertainment in one. Instagram is still seeking to develop its platform to gather larger numbers of engagements and the users themselves, which will help to narrow down the features that need to be added, enhanced, and replaced.
